College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

Description:

The College-Level Examination Program or CLEP provides students of any age with the opportunity to demonstrate college-level achievement through a program of exams in undergraduate college courses. There are 2,900 colleges that grant credit and/or advanced standing for CLEP exams.

Format and Delivery:

All CLEP exams are administered via a computer-based program in the Testing Services office. Examinees are given 90 minutes to complete any CLEP test. Please allow at least 4-6 weeks for your CLEP scores to be processed and transferred to your transcripts.

Type:

College Level Proficiency to acquire college level credit

Registration Process:

To schedule an exam submit your $25 payment online at www.usf.edu/testing/payment.asp. Wait a day for your payment to process, then call Testing Services to schedule your test date and time.. Please note that rescheduling without cost will only be done for cases of medical emergencies and will require documentation.

Test and Fees:

The College Board charges $77 for each CLEP test. This is payable the day of the exam (credit card or check or money order made out to ETS/CLEP). In addition, USF Testing Services charges a $25 fee (payment by credit card only at www.usf.edu/testing/payment.asp) for the administration of the exam prior to scheduling the exam.

Retest Policies:

Students may retake a CLEP exam, however, they cannot retake the same test or exam for six months. Scores of exams repeated earlier than six months will be canceled and test fees forfeited.

Testing Schedule:

Testing Services currently offers the CLEP examinations Monday through Friday at 9:30am and 2:00pm, as well as most Saturdays at 9:30am.

Seating for this exam is limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis. During periods of increased demand, your first-choice of testing date and time may not be available. Examinees should register as early as possible to avoid potential scheduling conflicts. NO WALK-INS WILL BE ACCEPTED. You must schedule an appointment at least one business day ahead of time. We are unable to accommodate same-day test registration.
