Graduate Records Exam (GRE) Revised General Test

Description:

The Graduate Records Exam revised General Test (GRE) is a test used for graduate study admissions by colleges and universities. The GRE revised General Test measures Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning skills critical to Graduate and Business programs, that have been acquired over a long period of time and that are not related to any specific field of study.

Format and Delivery:

The GRE revised General Test is offered at USF's Testing Center as a internet-based exam. The exam consists of three parts--Analytical Writing, Verbal and Quantitative--and examinees are allotted four and a half hours to complete the examination.

Registration Process:

To register for the GRE, please go to the registration link shown to the right. This will connect you with the ETS registration website. Sign in to my GRE account and follow the Registration process. Select the USF Testing Center as your choice for testing location. Candidates may also call the USF Testing Center 813-974-7501 to register for the computer based test. Registration is based on space availability. Please review the identification requirements on the GRE website.

Test and Fees:

Currently, ETS charges $160 for the GRE. There are no additional USF fees. Additional fees will be assessed by ETS for stand-by, reviews, and/or additional scores. Please see the ETS website or the GRE General Test Bulletin for more information. There is a $50.00 fee to reschedule and this must be done three business days prior the test date.

Retest Policies:

ETS allows examinees to retake the GRE revised General Test only once every 60 days, and no more than five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period. This applies even if you cancelled your scores on a test taken previously. You may take the Subject Tests as often as they are offered.

Testing Schedule:

Testing Services currently offers the GRE Monday through Friday at 8:00am and 12:30pm, as well as some Saturdays at 8:00am.

During periods of increased demand, your first-choice of testing date and time may not be available. Examinees should register as early as possible to avoid potential scheduling conflicts.
